The Best-selling Watch Brand Ever is also a Comprehensive Health Monitor.

The new Apple Watch Series 4/5 is a marvel of medical-grade sensors to help you monitor your physical condition. It boasts an optical heart rate monitor that can alert you to an irregular heartbeat. And – when combined with a second electrical sensor – can provide Electrocardiogram (ECG) readings. It can track your steps. It can remind you to take a deep breath to replenish your oxygen level. It will tell you when you’ve been sitting too long. It can record how many flights of stairs you climb in a day. But perhaps one of the most useful and unusual features of all: it contains the wizardry of a fall monitor and specialized software that can sense if you take a tumble and alert emergency services should the need arise. And, of course, the Series 4/5 is waterproof so whether you’re s swimmer or a bather, the Apple Watch Series 4/5 always has your back.

A Potential Life Saver

There are stories of Apple Watch wearers that had no knowledge of having conditions such as tachycardia and atrial fibrillation who have been saved by this device. Toralv Ostvang, a 67 year old Norwegian man, claims his Apple Watch saved his life. In early 2019 Toralv experienced a serious fall in his bathroom, his watch detected he was immobile for more than a minute, and emergency services were alerted. Toralv was found in serious condition but was ultimately saved because of the emergency medical attention he received.

Globally, his is just one story of many people who’s lives have been changed by the Apple Watch Series 4/5. This feature alone makes it a worthwhile purchase and is a great way to put your mind at ease and extra reassurance for your family.

Take a Spill and Follow the Drill.

If you fall while wearing your Apple Watch, it will tap you on the wrist, sound an alarm, and display a fall alert. From this point, you can choose to contact emergency services or dismiss the alert (if the watch detects movement, it waits for a response). If the watch does not sense movement or receive a response from you – for one minute – it will start a fifteen-second countdown and the watch will vibrate. This will be followed by an alarm sound indicating that emergency services will be contacted. Using an audio message, the watch alerts emergency services that you have fallen and your precise location.

Customize to Your Taste.

Apple offers quite the array of customizable features; everything from watch faces to fit your mood to an ever-changing selection of watch bands. You can update the face (and functionality) of your watch with a simple swipe or even assign a personal photo from your iPhone’s photo library. In addition to visual customization, you can also choose to turn many of the internal watch features on or off. Going to the movies? Turn your watch to “Theater Mode” which silences and stops notifications, or simple cover your watch face with your hand for three seconds to mute. One of the most useful features available is the ability to search for your lost phone from your watch. Need help hearing the search sound? Turn on the LED flash feature which gives the user a visual aid paired with the sound.
